A cubic foot per second (also cfs, cusec and ft3/s) is an Imperial unit / U.S. customary unit of flow rate equal to a cube with sides each 12 inches (1 foot or 472.44 centimetres) in length exchanged or moving each second. It is not an SI or metric unit. Current official usage is largely confined to the United States and Canada, but like many imperial units which have officially been "abolished" in the United Kingdom, it remains familiar in that country, with extensive unofficial usage. It is popularly used for water flow, especially in rivers and streams, and for HVAC measurements of air flow.
