Chicago Cubs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (5084 words)
In 1998, the Cubs made it into the playoffs as a wild card team on the strength of a 60+ HR season from Sammy Sosa and Kerry Wood's Rookie of the Year pitching performance.
The Cubs won their first division title in 14 years in 2003, and their NLDS victory over the Atlanta Braves was the team's first postseason series win since 1908.
Game 6 saw the Cubs take a 3-0 lead to the 8th inning, when the now-infamous incident in which a fan attempted to catch a ball in foul territory rattled the team and opened the door to 8 Florida runs and a Marlin victory.
