Cuca Patada is a game played in Latin America with a tennis ball. It originated in Colombia, most likely in Bogota. The purpose of the game is to kick the ball between one of the other players legs, when this happens the other players chase this player and kick him until he reaches a safe zone. In the poorer parts of colombia, students who cannot afford tennis balls usually play cuca patada with a dead bird. Origin of Name
The word cuca is slang in Colombia for vagina. For this reason, it is commonly used in the soccerlexicon to describe a ball rolling under a person, in between his/her legs. This expression has trancended the realm of soccer, now being used to describe this event in any sport. Patada is Spanish for kick. The vagina, (from Latin, literally sheath or scabbard ) is the tubular tract leading from the uterus to the exterior of the body in female placental mammals and marsupials, or to the cloaca in female birds, monotremes, and some reptiles. ... Rules
The Rules of the game differ from city to city, however the most common rules are:
When you have been "cucad" you must run and reach a safe zone.
Kicks above the waist are disencouraged, unless it is someone who is new to the game, in which case they are encouraged.
The purpose of the kicks are to hurt the running player, not just to scare him/her.
You cannot step on the ball/bird (stepping on the bird might render it unusuable and the players usually attempt to kill another bird to play with, usually by striking it with a tennis ball.)
