Twee (or Twee pop) is a type of indie rock that is known for simple, sweet melodies and lyrics, often with jangling guitars. The genre began in 1986, when New Musical Express released C86, a compilation of bands including the Pastels and Primal Scream; C86 became an entire genre that soon gave way to twee pop (see 1986 in music).
The problem is, it may be too much of a great record; its 28 songs (two of them unlisted) push it to the 73-plus minute mark, making Cuddlecore Galore an exhausting experience.
Listen closely and you'll also catch nods to the futuristic pop of the late seventies, when preconceptions of gender roles in rock music were superseded by a refreshingly democratic, non-exploitative, non-patriarchal stance.
Cuddlecore Galore is not an opportunistic assault on the past by people who have nothing to say to the present; it's a careful, post-modern homage to the cultural roots the Bros. claim as their own.
It took me a few minutes to overcome the urge to vomit after reading that, and then I assumed it was just something the band made up to describe themselves; but a quick google search said otherwise.
"Cuddlecorebands focused on childhood fascinations like fluffy animals, nature, candy, and the kind of love that doesn't go wrong."
Yeah from what I gather, "twee" and "cuddlecore" are closely related.
