Two-thirds of the population are Malay, with the remainder consisting of Chinese and Indians but also others like Dayaks and Belaits. The culinary arts are primarily Malay with influences of Chinese, and, to a lesser extent, Indian. Brunei is one of the wealthiese nations- the people pay no income tax and recieve free healthcare and pensions.
