Cunupia is a town in central Trinidad. It is part of the Borough of Chaguanas. Cunupia is just northeast of Chaguanas proper. Like Chaguanas itself, Cunupia has experienced rapid growth in recent years, especially in terms of residential developments. The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is a nation located in the southern Caribbean Sea, off the coast of Venezuela. ... The village of Cunupia is located in the midst of fields of sugar cane and can be accessed by the Uriah Butler Highway, south of El Socorro.
Cocoa was also grown in the area but, by the 1990s, the world demand for sugar and cocoa had declined and Cunupia's residents were forced to seek a living elsewhere, from Port-of-Spain in the north to Chaguanas in the south.
