WNBA career

Cooper was voted the WNBA's MVP in 1997 and 1998 and also won four WNBA Championships with the Houston Comets. During the Comet dynasty, she was a vital part of the triple threat offense with Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson. When retired in 2000, Cooper became the first player in WNBA history to score 1,000 and 2,000 career points. She went on to coach the Phoenix Mercury for one and a half seasons. Swoopes is also the first women's basketball player to have a Nike shoe named after her: the "Air Swoopes".
Her partner is a former basketball player and former Houston Comets assistant coach Alisa Scott and have been a couple as early as 1998.
Swoopes's contributions to women's basketball as well as her tough play through injury have her generally considered to be one of the best female basketball players of all time.
