Cynthia Spencer (16 August 18974 December 1972) was born Lady Cynthia Elinor Beatrix Hamilton, a daughter of James Hamilton, Marquess of Hamilton (later 3rd Duke of Abercorn). On 26 February 1919 she married Viscount Althorp, who inherited his father's title of Earl Spencer in 1922, whereupon Cynthia became Countess Spencer. From 1937 to her death, she was a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth.
