FACTOID # 151: The five countries with the highest coffee consumption are also the five countries whose citizens trust one another the most. Coincidence? Probably.

Encyclopedia > Cypress Hill III: Temples of Boom

Temples of Boom is considered to be a "dark" album by many, but have you listened to the album ON WEED???? Whoa!! I will attempt to focus on the following tracks: 1, 4, 6, 7, and 11, that are my favorites from this album. Track one is the intro that gets you in the mood with like a Weed101 course set to the beat. B-Real sets a rule that we still keep today, "We ain't got no kind of love for the brother who comes to the party with no bud!" (I've actually used that line!!!) Track 4 "Illusions" begins with a far east feel (the origin of the world's marijuana), and then sends the listener on a hazy ride through the straight-jacketed world of someone who ain't wrapped too tight. Thank goodness that track 6 "Boom-Biddy-Bye-Bye" is not the remix, because it still has the feel. It's self-defense turning to the offense again for Cypress and even though killing is wrong, the song makes you feel like you could kill if you have to. 'Macabre' is a good way to describe the message, but the Hill's delivery is irresistible. "Killafornia" disses the crap out of Ice Cube, aka "Studio Gangsta". Why would he put a pipe on his album cover if he doesn't smoke Buddah? I guess the hip hop world tried to sweep this track under a rug, but this track is still banging today. "You better check yourself!" Finally, my favorite, "Locotes". Get out your Spanish dictionary or get a Latina friend to help you translate. Cypress Hill tells a tale of street jacking and survival that has a beat that makes the pages turn in stride. "The puerco's got me on the run!", B-Real shouts, as heads can't help but bob to the beat and hope he gets away. Ok, so it glorifies the violence, killing, and being a criminal, but fans just love how Cypress Hill turns all of this into an art form. It is to be enjoyed, not mimicked. No use trying to keep the Temples of Boom CD away from other prisoners on the cell block!
