From a young age, Ghahremani was encouraged to make music part of his life. By five years old he was already a recognizable performing classical pianist in his home town of Highland Park, Illinois. At ten years old, he moved on as an alternative rock drummer with his sister, artist/musician Susie Ghahremani. Finally, at twelve years old, he picked up his first guitar. Having never received any sort of training with the instrument, his first years playing guitar were blind and difficult, as he was unable to keep up with peers that were receiving formal training. But persistance proved to be enough and, six years later, he moved on to front his own band.

In the Winter of 2003, Ghahremani founded the band Autobomb. Boasting a large a catalogue of songs he had written over the preceding two years, the group's first incarnation began rehearsal and demo recordings immediately. Alongside Cyrus (who at the time was handling all vocal, rhythm guitar, and synth duties) was Brian Rumsey, David Price and Andy Paul on drums, guitar, and bass, respectively. The trio had been longtime friends and all expressed interest in the project. This lineup changed first in October 2004, when Tony Montemarano (Mursic, Ex-Sing The Body Electric auditioned as the band's keyboardist and vocalist. This allowed Cyrus the opportunity to further build his guitar playing abilities while still offering vocal harmonies and back-ups at live shows. The classic Autobomb logo, circa 2004. ...
