Czarnków is a town in Poland. It was in Greater Poland (Wielkopolska Province) before 1999 in Czarnkow-Trzcianka County. It has 13,000 inhabitants. Previously it was in Pila Voivodship (1975-1998). From 1772 to 1919 in German borders, known as Czarnikau.
Czarnkow it is one of most beautiful towns in the region. The town is crossed by the Notec river; around the town are hills. Therefore it is called Szwajcaria Czarnkowska.
To the north it borders on the counties of Czarnkow and Chodziez, to the east Wagrowiec and Gniezno counties, to the south Sroda and Poznan counties, and to the west Szamotuly and Czarnkow.
The second distinct part of the county is formed by an area between the rivers Welna and Warta, the border of Czarnkow county, Tarnowko, Boruszyn, Ludomy, and Ruda Pogozinska.
The road from Oborniki to Czarnkow crosses this part of the county for a distance of 24 km.
