It is an international leader in teacher and health care education with five-year, dual degree programs in occupational and physical therapy, physician assistant, dietetics and a new seven-year chiropractic program. History

D'Youville College was founded by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart (GNSH), and named for their patron Saint Marie-Marguerite d'Youville. This private independent school with a Catholic tradition, was the first college to admit women in western New York State. D'Youville College has 25 different clubs and organizations that are either related to various degree programs or are designed to promote the skills promised by the College's mission statement.


D'Youville College competes at the NCAA Division III level, and is a charter member of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). They offer men's baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball and women's basketball, cross country, crew, soccer, softball, and volleyball. The School also offers co-educational golf as a sports program. Controversy

The college has recently come under controversy in the Buffalo area for its lack of community outreach.[citation needed]


D'Youville College does many things for its community, Back On Track, January 2007 - May 2007, Free Tax Preperation, The Community outreach program which provides shelters and homes to the homeless. Clean the Park, Which happens twice a year when students clean up the local park next door. There are many things the College does on a Week to Week basis for it's community.


National Praise

For being a private college the school has been praised by many politicians including US Senator and 2008 Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. It has also been visited by many celebrities including the controversial actress and activist Jane Fonda. A visit by Al Gore in 1999 was nationally covered on cable news.
