Roll a 1 and you might be in trouble...

Attributes are the raw ability of a person in a certain area. D6 utilizes six attributes. Three represent a character's mental characteristics and three represent physical characteristics. Presence, Knowledge and Perception are the mental characteristics; Physique, Reflexes and Coordination are the physical ones. Skills are the trained abilities of the character and are associated with a specific attribute (e.g., Driving, Acrobatics, and Climbing are Reflex skills). Each attribute and the skills under it are rated in values of Dice and Pips; Dice is the number of dice rolled and Pips is the number added. The more dice and pips in the rating the better the character is at that skill. Actions and Resolution

There are two types of actions, Standard Difficulty and Opposed Roll.

To perform an action of Standard Difficulty, the Gamemaster calls for the player to roll the dice for a certain skill. The dice are rolled and the values of each die is totalled and then the pips are added to this total. This number along with the called for modifiers is compared against the difficulty the GM has decided the task is. To perform an Opposed Roll action, the two parties involved (usually the player and a GM controlled NPC) both roll their appropriate skills dice, total them and any modifiers and compare the rolls. If the antagonists roll is higher than the defenders, he wins the contest and the rest of the result is resolved. If the defender equals or beats the antagonists roll, then the defender wins the contest. Legends system

Another version is the Legends System. This is jokingly referred to as D6 for the Mathematically challenged. Instead of adding the die totals up, the dice showing 3, 4, 5 or 6 are counted up as successes. To succeed at a skill requires a certain number of such successes.
