DJ Mahmut & Murat G is a hip hop duo from Frankfurt, Germany. Murat G raps in German and Turkish; and DJ Mahmut uses music from east and west. The group was founded in the early nineties. They also established their own label Looptown together with Volkan T., on which they first put out the Turkish-German rap compilation "Looptown presents Turkish Hip Hop" (1994) which was followed by their solo album "Garip Dünya" (1997).
DJ Mahmut has also performed in many high class clubs in his home country. He is a member of Statik, a group he established together with Istanbul's Turbo, and a German jazz/funk group named Mardi Gras BB.
