Dalakhani, who figures to be France's champion 3-year-old after winning three group I races, has been retired from racing and will take up stallion duty alongside his champion half-brother Daylami at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud in County Kildare, Ireland.
Dalakhani won the Oct. 5 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere (Fr-I) and earlier this year took the Prix du Jockey-Club (Fr-I, the French Derby), Prix Lupin (Fr-I) and two other group II events.
Dalakhani (Darshaan--Daltawa, by Miswaki) suffered his lone career defeat in the Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I) in June to another Aga Khan homebred, Alamshar.
He produced Dalakhani with his final challenge more than a furlong and a half out, which left him always with the upper hand in a battle with the Marcus Tregoning-trained Mubtaker.
Dalakhani prevailed by three-quarters of a lengh from his Hamdan Al-Maktoum-owned rival, with five lengths back to High Chaparral third, and a further length and a half to Doyen in fourth.
The only defeat Dalakhani suffered was at the hands of another outstanding three-year-old owned by the Aga Khan, the John Oxx-trained Alamshar, in the Irish Derby at The Curragh.
