Encyclopedia > Dale K. Myers

Dale K. Myers is a 30 year veteran of radio and television.

Winner of numerous awards for his work in the broadcast industry, including four Emmy ® awards for his computer animation work, Myers is a recognized expert on the JFK assassination. Honored in 1983 by the Associated Press for his radio documentary on the assassination, Myers authored The Detroit News' 25th anniversary coverage of the JFK slaying, and served as an on-camera expert and technical consultant for the critically acclaimed 1993 BBC/Frontline documentary, Who Was Lee Harvey Oswald? His stunning computer animated reconstruction of the Kennedy assassination became the focal point of ABC-TV's 40th anniversary special, Peter Jennings Reporting: The Kennedy Assassination - Beyond Conspiracy, and won Myers an EMMY ® for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Graphic and Artistic Design.

Myers is no stranger to high honors. Ten years earlier, in 1994, Myers was awarded 3 EMMY's ® from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his computer creation, Robo Jr. The six-minute short subject - produced, directed and animated by Myers - was one of the first entirely computer generated 3D cartoons and was featured at SIGGRAPH's annual computer festival. Additional honors include the Gold Camera Award from the 27th annual U.S. International Film and Video Festival.

Myers has worked as a freelance animator for clients around the country for more than 15 years, telecommuting from his home near Detroit, Michigan. Clients include Will Vinton Studios in Portland, Oregon where he served as Lead Animator on five of the computer generated M&M spots.

A seasoned writer and public speaker, Myers has served as spokesman on many subjects ranging from video production techniques to the art of computer animation. His books include: Computer Animation: Expert Advice on Breaking into the Business, which distills experiences from industry leaders into a definitive street-smart guide; and the critically acclaimed With Malice: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Murder of Officer J.D. Tippit, a definitive look at murder of the Dallas patrolman killed 45-minutes after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
