Damansara is a one of 36 subdivisions of the district of Petaling in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It is named after the Damansara River(Sungai Damansara) which flows nearby. It is one of the most densely populated areas in Malaysia. In the 2000 Census of Malaysia, it was the second-largest district subdivision in Malaysia, in terms of population, with 453,420 residents. Damansara is a central commercial hub, second only after Kuala Lumpur (the capital of Malaysia). This place houses one of the most affluent residence areas in Malaysia. Its status as the main satellite town is tied to its location in the heart of Klang Valley in Malaysia.

Due to different delineations for electoral purposes, as of 2004, Damansara is represented in Parliament under the constituency of Subang by Karnail Singh Nijhar, a member of the Malaysian Indian Congress.
