Dan (דָּן "Judge", Standard Hebrew Dan, Tiberian Hebrew Dān) is one of the sons of Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant (Genesis 30:4). He was the fifth son of Jacob. His name probably comes from Genesis 30:6 when Rachel states, "God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan."
