Dan Dodge is the co-creator of the QNX Realtime Operating system (with Gordon Bell). They began the project while students at the University of Waterloo in 1980. After moving to Kanata, Ontario, (a high-tech area outside Ottawa) to start Quantum Software Systems (later renamed QNX Software Systems to avoid confusion with the famous hard drive manufacturer), the first commercial version of QNX was released for the Intel 8088 CPU in 1982.
