Dan Henzerling briefly served as drummer for the Tempe, Arizona based alternative rock band Gin Blossoms. He joined the group in 1988 as a replacement for the band's first drummer, Chris McCann, but was in turn soon replaced by Phillip Rhodes.

“Dan and Brian and I used to work at Tower Records in Tempe [Arizona], and we always talked about putting a band together,” says Wilson.
