DanHerbeck is the co-author of "American Terrorist: Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City Bombing" and met with Timothy McVeigh several times leading up to the execution.
Herbeck: He told us that he always knew from the first day he planned the bombing, that he would be caught and executed.
Herbeck: People would like to think that Tim McVeigh was a monster, with blood dripping from his mouth, with a wild-eyed stare like a Charles Manson.
DanHerbeck: The horrible crime itself already attracted a lot of attention, and if we could turn the clock back six years and make this bombing go away, we'd do it in a minute.
DanHerbeck: Contrary to some predictions that were made before the book came out, our book in no way states that McVeigh acted alone.
DanHerbeck: We would just like to say that we understand that this book is painful for people to read, especially for people from Oklahoma City.
