Dan began playing drums when he was 14. “I remember my dad bought me a drum set one year for Christmas,” he says. And from there, his passion for the drums took off. Dan takes his cues from the greats like John Bonham, Keith Moon, Eddie Shore, and Mitch Mitchell, but he also has a big place in his heart for drummers like Peter Moffett (Wool, Government Issue, Burning Airlines) and Darren Zentek (Kerosene 454). He often signes things "Dan Rules" as opposed to "Dan Whitesides". "I play a little guitar, but that’s just because my whole family plays guitar, and I picked it up from being around them. [I didn’t play it] in any bands or anything like that though.
