“Deep down you can’t forget what’s happened no matter how much counselling you have. You blame yourself and tell yourself you deserve it – I was given help when I most needed it and I want to be able to help others now. Too many women (1 in 4) suffer domestic violence at some time and support centres such as Women’s Aid aren’t able to answer all of the calls due to being under resourced. Lloyd has had her 32AA breasts increased by surgery three times, and is presently a 32DD. During her last operation, when her old implants were replaced with newer, larger ones, taking her from a 32D to a 32DD, surgeons removed a benign lump in her right breast. Lloyd was worried that it was cancer, but doctors assured her that the lump was harmless. She has revealed that her third operation will be her last, claiming that it is "pointless" going any bigger and that "People say I want to be the new Jordan, but I definitely don't! I want to be myself. I don't mind her boobs but I think they could only suit her." [8] [9]

Racism and bullying

She admitted that she must have said it for Big Brother to have asked her about it and added that it could be taken in a "bad" way. Reaction

This behaviour also created an international outcry gaining heavy coverage in the Indian media. Gordon Brown, the British Chancellor of the Exchequer visiting India at the time, condemned the programme on the grounds that he is against anything which might damage the perception that the United Kingdom is a country of tolerance.[25] In a statement on January 17 Channel 4 defended the programme against charges "of overt racism or racial abuse".[26] For others with the same or similar names, see Gordon Brown (disambiguation). ... is the 17th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. ...

Lloyd's aunt directly accused her of racism, adding "It was disgusting the way Danielle treated Shilpa. I'm surprised Big Brother didn't throw her out of the house."[28]

A newspaper interview made before Celebrity Big Brother, from November 2006, revealed Lloyd's anti-immigration views: "If I was (a politician), I'd get more people into work and stop people coming into the country. There's so many people who come into England because they know they can get benefits. People who already live here should get the jobs".[29]

Currently her own reaction appears to be open to further question. Whereas her fellow Housemate, Jade Goody, had to face the consequences of her actions, Danielle, with support from newspapers such as the Daily Star, has done what some pundits predicted Jade would do: two days after her eviction she told the Daily Star that she was bullied as a child, described how this impacted on her adult life, and also revealed that she and Jade were no longer friends.

Loss of contracts, Sheringham

As a result of her behaviour on the show, Danielle Lloyd lost six-figure modelling contracts with motorcycle insurance firm Bennetts,[30] fashion label Rocawear;[31][32] and adult wear website becheeky.com among minor sponsors.[33] Bennetts, part of the Budget Group of Companies, is the UK’s number one for motorcycle insurance and insures over 170,000 bikers in the UK and Northern Ireland. ... In the immediate aftermath of Lloyd's appearance in Celebrity Big Brother, several tabloids reported that her then boyfriend, Teddy Sheringham, ended his relationship with her; the reasons for doing so include his own sense of disgust at her actions on the programme; the fact that he used to play in a team that is made up of over 50% non-white players(Colchester, near Seven Kings, Ilford); and because of his concern for the safety his own off-field commercial activities and reputation.[34] This article does not cite any references or sources. ... After eviction

Before her eviction, Shilpa Shetty had already commented on Lloyd's behaviour in the Big Brother house, saying: "I let Danielle off because she is so young. They (Jade and Jo) made her look bad. You know what really balances it out for Danielle? Her stupidity. She's so innocent."[35]

Lloyd’s mother said in the News of the World that her family has been “destroyed” by the racist row: "Danielle is at the start of her career and facing ruin because of a TV show that she thought was going to be entertaining and fun. Everything's been taken away from her as well. It has destroyed the family. I'm regretting she went in. Danielle has got a lot of questions to answer when she gets out." She denied her daughter was a racist, claiming: "She will be distraught but she's got to take responsibility. She's been stupid and naive and she's guilty of that (but) I know she didn't mean any racial connotations when she told Shilpa to go home. Danielle's been brought up amongst family friends of all different races. I swear she isn't racist."[36] The News of the World is a British tabloid newspaper published every Sunday. ...

It also became apparent that Lloyd had been warned against racist behaviour prior to going into the house, in an email sent to her by her agent at the time, Angela de Fouw. [37]

Lloyd came fifth in the contest, with 3.3% of the vote to save her.[38]

During her post-eviction interview with Davina McCall she said "I feel terrible" and insisted her comments had nothing to do with skin colour. Lloyd apologised for her behaviour towards the Bollywood star, insisting her remarks had been made "in the heat of the moment. I wasn't laughing at Shilpa... it was just nerves. I hate confrontation." Asked what she had learned on the show, she said: "Not to be such a bitch."[39] Davina then replied, in a telling off kind of manner 'Good'. Davina redirects here. ...

Danielle has agreed in an attempt to revive her popularity to go on a 'date' with a competition winner. The Daily Star in promoting the article discusses how she wears 'plunging vest top and miniskirt.' when on a date and will willingly attend at any public house of the entrant's choice. [40]

Danielle defended her behaviour in Celebrity Big Brother, claiming she "didn't do anything wrong". In an interview with Katie Price and Peter Andre on Katie & Peter: Unleashed, the model insisted she had merely acted like a "silly, bitchy girl, like all girls can be bitchy".

Price told her: "Last year, you were in the explosive Big Brother house. It was a racist programme and we saw it all." She added that Lloyd seemed to have escaped the incident unscathed and continued her career, while Goody and O'Meara had "never really been forgiven".

However, Lloyd played down the trio's behaviour, saying: "I think that maybe they came out and apologised for things that they didn’t really do. Whereas I felt like I didn’t really do anything wrong in the house. I was probably being a silly, bitchy girl in the house, like all girls can be bitchy."
