Dark, whose real name was Daniel Melville Croskery, was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Tulsa, Okla. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, which under the guidance of English teacher Isabelle E. Ronan was a training ground for future stars.
Dark began a radio career that later took him to stations in Tulsa, Cleveland, Miami, New Orleans, St. Louis, and finally a 1963-66 stint as the evening DJ for KLAC-AM in Los Angeles.
DannyDark's face was not famous, but his distinctive voice enticed millions to purchase everything from Keebler Cookies to Armorall.
Dark was the voice of NBC and the long-running TV western "Bonanza." In the "Super Friends" cartoon series, he voiced several characters, including the Man of Steel.
