Goffey started his music career at with his band the Fallopian Tubes at Primary school. At Wheatley Park School, Oxford he became drummer for the four-piece The Jennifers which featured a 16 year old Gaz Coombes on vocals. The Jennifers began building a reputation in the Oxford indie music scene and released one single in 1992 on Nude Records before they disbsanded. Allegedly, before the split, Goffey and Coombes had agreed to continue to work together in the future. Wheatley Park School is a secondary school of around 1400 pupils situated in Holton, just outside the city of Oxford. ... In 1993, Coombes introduced Goffey to his co-worker Mick Quinn and they started jamming together, with Danny on drums calling the band Theodore Supergrass, and later just Supergrass. The band went onto enjoy great success in the mid-90's woth their up-beat, quirky, youthful songs and have found a level of lasting success. While students at Wheatley Park Comprehensive in Oxford, guitarist/vocalist Danny Goffey and Gaz Coombes played together in the band, The Jennifers.
Soon after, Danny and Gaz met bassist Mickey Quinn and formed Theodore Supergrass.
Dropping the forename, Supergrass released their first single, the semi-autobiographical "Caught by the Fuzz" in the summer of 1994 on the indie label Backbeat; Parlophone signed the band and reissued the single in the fall of the year.
