Daniel Steven Ryan was born in Auckland, New Zealand son of Conner and Frances Ryan. Danny moved over in 1980s and meet Chandler at work and became one of the gang in 1994.

Danny is a member national army in 1995 and has become high in command but still is a bit of a joker he is known for is rubbish jokes and wise comedy. He was known to have been a member of there old school and also fell in love with Rachel along with Ross.

In the Christmas episode he found out that Rachel was going out with Ross and disappeared for 4 episodes he went back to New Zealand when he came back the gang had gone to Las Vegas. They came back to find a note saying he has gone on national service with the army and will be back in a few weeks.

In 2005 after Monica and Chandler adopted the twins Rachel got very drunk and later finds out that she is pregnant with his child. Nine months later she gives birth to baby Jamie.
