Dark Castle Entertainment was formed in 1999 by Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis and Gilbert Adler. Burbank, Calif. — Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis have partnered in the formation of Dark Castle Entertainment, a new film company created in association with, in their words, "the spirit of the late William Castle," who produced and directed several memorable horror films during the 1950s and 1960s.
As the occupants learn more about the history of the house, which was once an insane asylum headed by a deranged doctor, they come to understand the true power of evil and to recognize that it animates the very walls of the building they inhabit.
The story combines white-knuckle terror with dark humor; the filmmakers plan to use state-of-the-art special effects to bring the story further into contemporary focus.

Dark Castle Entertainment was formed shortly in 1999 by Joel Silver, Robert Zemeckis and Gilbert Adler, when their first debuted film, "House on Haunted Hill," was remade in dire dedication to the late William Castle, who's sole purpose in life was to shock, scare and enlighten his audience all at the same time.
Every year, Dark Castle yet again comes out with another film consisting of a small budget and enclosed set, enough to give the feel that it really was made back in the days of the great William Castle.
