Quaife wrote a 600-word beginning to a short story, then e-mailed it to a member of each team, who continued the narrative with another 600 words and e-mailed it on to the next team member until everyone had contributed.
Most of the students had taken other creative writing courses from Quaife and knew each other, which made peer editing and critiquing each others’ stories much easier, she said.
Literature began as a spoken form but “writing is probably the loneliest of the arts,” Quaife said; the audience is an unseen one.
