Darren Robinson was born on June 10, 1967. His biggest claim to fame was as Buffy the Human Beat Box, a member of the 80's rap group, The Fat Boys. He, along with Doug E. Fresh and others, were pioneers of beatboxing, a form of vocal percussion used in many rap groups throughout the 80's and 90's. The Fat Boys were a hip hop trio of rappers from Brooklyn who emerged in the early 1980s. ... Beatboxing is the vocal percussion of hip hop culture and music. ...


Although perfect for the group's image, Darren's weight eventually contributed to his death. He died of a heart attack, weighing 450 pounds at the time. He was only 28 years old.
