Darren Johnson (born 1966) is a Green Party politician in England and a member of the London Assembly. He is the leader of the Green Party group. He is one of the Principal Speakers of the Green Party and was their candidate for Mayor of London in 2000 & 2004.


He is also a councillor in the London Borough of Lewisham. He is the Green Party prospective parliamentary candidate for the constituency of Lewisham Deptford in the UK general election, 2005/06.

Johnson comes to UTPA after serving as the head student manager of the men's basketball team at the University of South Dakota since the 2002-03 season.
Johnson was part of a squad that recorded a 26-4 record and was ranked as high as fourth in the nation that season.
Johnson earned his bachelor's degree in recreation with a minor in health from the University of South Dakota in 2006 and received his associate's degree in liberal arts from Des Moines Area Community College.

Johnson, a UO assistant professor of chemistry, supervises the work of W. Jake Vickaryous (pronounced like the word "vicarious"), the UO doctoral degree candidate in chemistry who synthesized the molecule and is the lead author for the Angewandte Chemie article.
