Das Ich is a German electrogoth band formed in 1989. The group, fronted by Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm, reaches out to a growing audience with their form of electronic gothic music. They were one of the founders of a movement in the early 1990s, which was called "Neue Deutsche Todeskunst" (New German Death Art). The German term das Ich makes reference to freudian psychology. Their first full-length album, Die Propheten, was released in Germany in 1991 and was reissued in the US in 1997, selling over thirty thousand copies. Das Ich toured in America in 1996 and 1997. One of their later albums, Egodram (released in 1997) is said to be somewhat more "danceable" than their earlier albums. In 1999 they released a remix album, Re-Laborat, that included work done by popular Industrial bands.
