Datta Raghunath Kavthekar (1901-1979), also known as D. R. Kavthekar had been a renowned Marathi novelist in the 1930s through late 1970s era. He was born in 1901 in a small Wai town based on the banks of famous river Krishna in Maharashtra state in India. Having lost both the parents in early age, he joined Army of India after matriculation. He was a World War I veteran.
