Dave Mello was the drummer of the punk/ska band Operation Ivy. He was one of the key pieces to the musical feel of Operation Ivy. Even though he had only drummed in two other bands, he was consisdered a very talented drummer in Operation Ivy's heyday, yet is considered underappreciated today. Their first show was held in Mello's garage in Albany, California. He played for them only two years. They broke up in 1989 because of unwanted attention. Dave went on to bands like Downfall and Schlong (with his brother Pat Mello). Today he owns a record shop in South Lake Tahoe and regularly appears at the All ages punk club 924 Gilman Street with his current bands The Bowel-Tones, Jew Driver, and does some reunion shows with Schlong.
