David "Dave" Tippett (Born: August 25, 1961 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada) is a former left-winger and current head coach in the National Hockey League. Tippett is the 19th head coach of the Dallas Stars, since accepting the job on May 21, 2002. As head coach for the Dallas Stars, Tippet has a career record of 87-48-27. Tippett has a home record of 56-14-14 which currently ranks him fifth in the NHL for coaches with a minimum of 50 career home wins. Tippett came to Dallas after a stint as assistant coach with the Los Angeles Kings that lasted three full seasons, helping to lead the Kings to the playoffs all three seasons, after the team qualified for post-season play just one out of the previous six seasons. He has played for the Hartford Whalers, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers.
