David (Dave) Williams (February 29, 1972 – August 14, 2002) was the singer for the band Drowning Pool. He was born in Princeton, Texas to Charles Edward and Jo-Ann Williams, and was a fixture in the Dallas music scene throughout the 1990s playing in well-known clubs. In 1999, he joined Drowning Pool. Despite the hardcore, grungy attitude that he was known for during concerts, Dave Williams was highly known for his positive, friendly attitude. A statement from his bandmates during his funeral states that he was a friendly man who always made a point to give at least one person a gift and was very friendly- especially to his fans. Dave was also known to be very realistic as well- this was shown when he explained the significance of the lyrics to the song "Sinner". Williams' lifeless body was found on the floor of his band's tour bus in Manassas, Virginia. Contrary to speculation, Williams died from natural causes, according to a coroner's toxicology report. The Dallas, Texas music community will honor Dave and his legacy with a multi-venue music festival aptly named "Stage Fest". Stage Fest will be held in downtown Dallas' Deep Ellum district on Tuesday, August 14th, 2007, the fifth anniversary of his passing, and will play seven Deep Ellum venues including Club Dada, The Curtain Club, The Liquid Lounge, The Darkside Lounge, Red Blood Club, Reno's Chop Shop, and Tomcat's. Stage Fest included Dallas area-based rock and metal bands Advent, LaME, Overscene, Sling, System Overload, and The Beautiful Disaster playing at The Curtain Club; Aberrant, Alapeno, DownLo, Edgewater, The Opus Flux, and Vibrosound playing at The Liquid Lounge; Burn In Silence, Jacknife, , Mourning Fury, Revolution Of Knowledge, Somatik, and With These Words playing at Tomcats; Faint The Fiction, Mile Zero, Slak and Suicide Hook playing at Reno's Chop Shop; Deathride, Fallen Breed, Kung Foo Preacher, Reverent, and Ruin playing at The Darkside Lounge; Red Leather, Sea of Sorrow, Xes Whiskey, and Zenabi playing at Club Dada; 12 Guage Warning, July Alley, LastDayLiving, S.A.O., and SiK playing at Red Blood Club.
