Fulton once suffered an eye injury from an accident with an automatic bowling machine which almost put his career in danger. He had major surgery, but returned eight weeks later. While not playing, he is also a cricketing commentator. He stepped down from Kent captaincy in July 2005, and will have a benefit match played in his honour in 2006.
