David Norris was born in the Belgian Congo on the 31st of July 1944 to an English father and an Irish mother.
Norris approached his old friend and Trinity contemporary Mary Robinson who was a barrister at the time and asked her firm to represent him in his case against the State.
David Norris is glad that his is known as and will be remembered as the public face of homosexuality in Ireland in that it has enabled him to discover that he wasn't the only gay person in the country.
