Life

Born in Denver, Colorado, he served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He began his acting career in live theatre, making his Broadway debut in 1953. He married actress Mary Welch and had a son, Jonathan White, born on July 14, 1955. Three years later Mary died during a second childbirth. In 1964 White got the role of Larry Tate on Bewitched which he played from 1964-1972, the show's entire run. His son, Jonathan, died at the age of 38, a victim of the 1988 terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. David did not recover from this event. He died of a heart attack on November 27, 1990 aged 74. He is today interred with Jonathan White at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
