Il David, conservato alla Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze, venne scolpito nel 1504 da Michelangelo Buonarroti su commissione dell’Opera del Duomo.
Nel 2003 è stato effettuato un intervento di restauro alla statua del Daviddi Michelangelo Buonarroti, intervento necessario alla ripulitura della statua dalle macchie scure ed è stato definito un programma di monitoraggio a cui la statua sarà sottoposta ogni anno per far sì che anche i posteri beneficino di quest’opera colossale.
Donatello was the son of Nicolo di Betto Bardi, a member of the Florentine Woolcombers Guild, and was born in Florence, probably in 1386.
