Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,234 km˛ (476 mi˛). 1,198 km˛ (462 mi˛) of it is land and 36 km˛ (14 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 2.91% water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 91,545 people, 36,033 households, and 24,826 families residing in the county. The population density is 76/km˛ (198/mi˛). There are 38,432 housing units at an average density of 32/km˛ (83/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 93.69% White, 4.35% Black or African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.92% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
