History

Dawson was founded by a man named Kyle Hartry. Kyle Hartry traveled to the land that we now call Dawson and established a bar named Hartry's Brews. Hartry's Brews is presently PJ's lounge. Kyle also constructed the first synagogue and started the volunteer fire department. Tired of being ridiculed, Kyle changed his name to Jack Dawson and renamed the town Dawson. That is the way we know it today.

There were 197 housing units at an average density of 87.4/km² (226.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.93% White, and 1.07% from two or more races.
