Dayton Moore is the general manager of the Kansas City Royals team in Major League Baseball, starting June 8, 2006. He succeeds Allard Baird. Moore will not participate in the amateur draft with the Royals on June 6th, 2006, in which the team has the first overall selection (due to the apparent conflict of interest), although he also will not take part in personnel discussions or decision-making for the Braves. A native of Wichita, Kansas who grew up a Royals fan, he joined the Braves as a scout in 1994.
