The brand De Puta Madre was created in a Spanish jail by a Columbian drug dealer, Ilan Fernandez (LF.U.J who was arrested in 1991 in Barcellona for drug pushing and arms trafficking. Repenting of his illegal actions, he tried to give vent to his innermost feelings, beginning to create T-shirts with felt penned slogans and words that they were smuggled out of jail secretely. The big clamour caused by the T-shirts, let him feel the willing to express worldwide his thoughts and spread abroad De Puta Madre brand. Once out of prison, Ilan Fernandez started to search with all his means and with many difficulties for a producer with whom he could share his ideas and project, thus the brand De Puta Madre was born and is now recognized all over the world. The expression De Puta Madre is derived from Spanish and express a inner sensation. It could be translated into "great" or "feelin' great". The Name Many ask people why the name De Puta Madre. While he was serving his time in prison Fernandez shared his cell with another Colombian, arrested for murder. One day, after receiving the very bad news tha his sister had died his friend looked to be really down and Ilan Fernandez asked: "¿Qué tal estas?"(How are you feeling?). And he answered: "De puta madre"(Great). After this both they both laughed about the answer and in no time Fernandez pulled off the shirt's idea. Even though many people may think the words De Puta Madre might be negative they don't have any depreciative meaning at all. These words represent a Spanish expression for "I'm feeling great", "cool", "great"... "That's how people will feel when they use our garments, they will feel great, they will feel De Puta Madre" said Ilan Fernandez. The Style De Puta Madre has a very long range of materials under the brand's name. It's mostly known by the t-shirt´s, sweatshirt,s and shirts decorated with very strong phrases and motos.But the shirt's aren't oly some all same colored shirt's with the motos written on. They are decorated with some great, provoking and charming design that is commonly related with the things that are written in the shirt. A New Project Ilan Fernandez is currently developing a new project to help people, that like himself in the past, are in jail. The project's goal is to re insert this people in society maintaining them away from drugs and criminal acts. He visits jails and state penitenciaries around the world and and inside those jails starts a project called "De Puta Madre made in prision". The encarcerated criminals work into the development of new shirts and other products with original ideas and their handwork. This will help them because when they've finished their time in prision they have the possibility of work to the company.
