Early years

In 1961, at age 14, Lind was discovered at a local pool in Burbank by photographer Leon Beauchemin. This led to two appearances on the cover of Teen magazine. DeDe married her high school sweetheart right after graduating at the age of 17. The young couple moved to San Diego and DeDe gave birth to a son. The marriage lasted only a year. Her photographer friend Leon talked her into testing for Playboy. At 19, she was selected to be the Playboy Playmate for August 1967. The photography was done by Mario Casilli.
