What Happened to Tests? (1915 words)
Tests — timed, in-class, individual efforts — are still the primary assessment tool used by mathematics faculty at DeKalb College, but comparing current tests to tests of ten, or even five, years ago show that perhaps the characteristics given above are the only things that are still the same.
A variety of other types of assessment are used on a regular basis at DeKalb College, but this essay is primarily a report on how tests have changed.
