Introduction

Deadmines is usually the first instance Alliance characters will do in the MMORPG game World of Warcraft. It is found in the Defias controlled village of Moonbrook in the human region of Westfall. You will find it by doing an escort quest after the instance "follow-up quests". Sure enough The Deadmines are Defias controlled.

NPCs and Bosses

The main NPCs found in the instance are Defias miners usually lvl 17 and as you progress you will encounter Defias Strip miners lvl 18-19. Another key point to Deadmines are the patrol that will appear, and are the only respawns, after each boss is killed.

Bosses

The first boss you should encounter will be Rhak'zor who's drop is not a blue (rare) or rarely a green (uncommon) but a white (common) hammer, imaginatively called Rhak'zor's Hammer. On rare occasions Rhak'zor has been known to drop a green two-handed axe known as the Rockslicer.

The second boss is quite a difficulty. When you enter the Mast Room you will find that it is mainly occupied by Goblin Woodworkers lvl 19elites. There is also a machine patrolling back and forth in this room known as Sneed's Shredder - the boss. The trick is to kill all the goblins WITHOUT disturbing the boss and finishing him afterwards. Since this boss is a shredder you will notice that if you attack regualrly he will rarely get a hit in. When the shredder is dead your problems are not over though, because you now have to kill Sneeed him self , who uses two fist weapons and attacks regularly and hard. Both the shredder and Sneed are 20elites. The shredder usually drop the common dagger Buzzer Blade but on rare occasions drops the Buzz Saw (sword - Green). Sneed usually drops a green pair of cloth gloves - Gold-flecked gloves. He also drops a two-handed axe - Taskmaster axe (blue) on rare occasions.

Two down five to go. The third boss has provided players with difficulty also. The Goblin Foundry is a very tricky part of the Deadmines consisting of Goblin Craftsmen and Goblin Engineers. Unfortunately they are all very close together and hard to pull them one by one. If you do mange to get to Gilnid - the Smelter then you are in some luck. He is a 20elite who drops a blue ring Lavishly Jewelled Ring on rare drops, and usually a pair of green leather pants - Smelting Pants.

Into Ironclad Coven and the home of the Defias ship - and the main boss himself. Ironclad Coven consists of Defias Pirates -20elites with their parrot pets lvl 15. Defias Squallshapers 20elites and Goblin Shipbuilders - 20elites. If you want to get to Mr. Smite - The Captain's First mate- then you could try swimming around the pirates to him. Smite blocks the entrance onto the ship. When you attack Smite you will be ambushed by two stealthing Defias Blackguards - make sure you kill them first as I will explain. If you don't then Smite's Warstomp will be unleashed at every 33% health lost when he retrieves a new weapon and the Guards will attack you continueously without any resistance. Once Smite is dead he will either drop a blue two-handed mace - Smite's Mighty Hammer...a green one-handed axe Smite's Reaver....or a green sword Thief's Blade.

One more boss before the big one... Captain Greenskin is patrolling around Edwin VanCleefs "cabin" and is a 20elite with two normal Defias Pirate guards. Make sure you kill him fairly quickly and if you are lucky th Emberstone Staff will drop - (RARE!) or the green polearm ..Impaling Harpoon.

Finally, Edwin VanCleef the hardest of them all, when you attack the Defias Kingpin two stealthing guards merge out of the shadows to greet you also. When he cries "Lapdogs, all of you!" two more guards will seek to aid him. After a very hard fight VanCleef should be downed and drops some fairly impressive items. Out of four RARES you will either recieve Corsair's Overshirt (cloth chest) Cruel Barb (one handed sword) Cape of the Brotherhood (Back slot) or Blackened Defias Armor (leather chesy)...

Well done you appear to have been victorious, but its not over yet ... The 7th and final boss is the ships cook-Cookie, a murloc. Try and attack her when there arent tonnes of guards and you will either get the blue wand-Cookie's Stirring Rod...or the green one-handed mace - Cookie's Tenderiser. WELL DONE THAT IS IT!!!

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips and tricks to help you along the way - Clear the rooms - make sure you do this so you don't pull tonnes when attacking the boss. Pick the door lock - at the Ironclad Coven door try picking the lock with a rogue to gain the element of surprise. The Wheel - Before Captain Greenskin you may notice on the floor below is a wheel which you can jump on and are practically invulnerable on - a great safe spot.

The Cannon - Another safe spoty, is in front of the cabin at the top floor of the boat just by the ramp leading up to it. There is a cannon sticking off the ship which you should jump onto when you kill VanCleef if you dont want to handle his guards.
