Debabrata Biswas (Bangla: দেবব্রত বিশ্বাস) is one of the most well known (and controversial) exponents of Rabindra_Sangeet. He was born in 1911, when George_V_of_the_United_Kingdom had visited India for the Delhi_Durbar and so he was nicknamed George. He is popularly known as George Biswas or George-da. He had written an autobiography entitled "Bratyojoner Ruddhosongeet" (meaning "The Obstructed Songs of the Ostracized Person"). After his death in 1980, noted film-maker Utpalendu Chakraborty had made a documentary film (in 1982) on his life, based on the singer's interviews and footages taken before.
