Dee Dee Myers (born Margaret Jane Myers on 1 September 1961 in Providence, Rhode Island) served as White House Press Secretary for the first two years of the Clinton administration, from January 20, 1993 to December 22, 1994. In the first months of the Clinton Administration she was widely seen as something of a pretender, as Clinton advisor George Stephanopolous actually conducted the daily press briefings instead of Myers. However, after a few verbal missteps by Stephanopolous early in the administration, Myers was conveniently allowed to serve in the traditional role of the press secretary, and is considered to have had a successful tenure.
