In rises in the piedmont country in western Guilford County, east of Kernersville. It flows southeast past High Point and Randleman. It passes northeast of Asheboro, then flows east, passing north of Sanford. It joins Haw River near Haywood, just below the Haw's emergence from Jordan Lake, to form the Cape Fear River.
The DeepRiver is a tributary of the Cape Fear River, approximately 125 mi (201 km) long, in north central NorthCarolina in the United States.
The river has 8 dams and is the location of the controversial Randleman dam and lake project that will soon innundate 3000 acres of property on the river near US 220 highway.
The river crosses the fall line of NorthCarolina, an area where rivers are quite rocky and have a moderately high gradient.
