The duck often takes part in pre-match and half time entertainment. The Deepdale Duck was beaten in a half-time Penalty shootout (football) by the West Ham United F.C. mascots at the 2005 play-off final, a match that West Ham went on to win 1-0 and gain promotion to the FA Premier League. The Duck (with his side-kick Gary Robinson) visits over 150 primary schools a year with their (in)famous 'Deepdale Roadshow'. He also works hard for many local and national charaties and childrens organisations. He has appeared many times in national newspapers, TV shows and every national TV News programme. In 1998 the Duck was awarded Sky TV's 'Goal Celebration of the Month Award'. He even managed to attend the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth when they were promoting the World Cup bid. Penalty shootouts, officially named kicks from the penalty mark, are a method sometimes used to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a draw in a game of football. ...
